Gibson McCook Relays Rules

  1. The meet shall be called the GIBSON McCOOK RELAYS.
  2. Control of the meet shall be vested in the GIBSON McCOOK RELAYS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE.
  3. Entries are by invitation only. Each member of a competing team must be a bonafide student or member of the invited institution, and be registered to participate in the event.
  4. In school events, the age limits and all other regulations governing competition in Jamaican High School boys, High School girls, Preparatory and Primary schools, shall be determined in a similar manner as they affect these various competitions.
  5. Any violation of the above regulations will result in the withholding of an invitation to the defaulting institution from participation in this annual meet for a period of time.
  6. Any action that brings the event into disrepute will result in the withdrawal of accreditation.
  7. Except as provided for in these rules, the rules of the World Athletics shall apply.
  8. Coaches must produce a valid photo ID to collect their team’s package.
  9. Athletes must have their numbers affixed to both the front and rear of the vest.
  10. Each member of a competing team will be similarly attired in the colours of the institution or club.
  11. No part of a competitor’s vest properly tucked into his/her shorts must be removed during or immediately after competition. Athletes guilty of this offence will automatically have their team disqualified.
  12. The names provided to the Organizing Committee are the only names allowed to compete in the particular relay event.
  13. Each team scheduled for the finals must collect a relay card from the call room desk, complete same, and return the completed card to the call room desk at least one hour prior to the finals.
  14. Competitors will warm up outside the stadium and will be brought into the stadium when their event is about to take place.
  15.  Lane placement in the finals will be decided by draw of the eligible finalist teams, made by representatives of the controllers of the meet.
  16. Any individual or member of a relay team guilty of a false start will be automatically disqualified.
  17. A protest or objection against the conduct or placing of a team shall be made to the referee of the meet by the representative of the protesting team according to World Athletics rules. If the protesting team is not satisfied, the protest can then be taken to the Jury of Appeal, along with a required deposit of One Thousand Jamaican Dollars (J$1,000). The resulting decision of the Jury of Appeal shall be final.
  18. Only officials or competing athletes under the direction of call room officials are allowed on the field.
  19. Teams declared as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place must make one representative available for medal presentations immediately after completion of the event.
  20. Failure to comply with any of the rules of this meet will result in disqualification.
